Task 3. The Right to Die.

Hello everyone!

I am glad to see you in my blog again.

The main our treasure is our life. It is not common to discuss topics associated with death. But I strongly believe that precisely this theme cannot be silenced. Nowadays, most teenagers entering the transitional age and faced with the first difficulties in their lives do not want to solve anything and find suicide as the only possible way out and the way to get rid of all the difficulties. In «The Guardian» I have found an article denoted the level of suicide in England and Wales.

According to statistics, suicide rate rises among young people in England and Wales. This suggests that a large number of young people have mental health problems.
The suicide rate among adolescent girls reached its record high in 2017. Fifty-six girls in this age group killed themselves last year, the highest number since 1981. As for the boys, there were 121 young male suicides last year, compared to 74 in 2010.
As a whole, Scotland has the highest suicide rate in Great Britain, at 13.9 per 100,000. England has the lowest at 9.2 per 100,000.
Experts believe that more attention should be paid to the problems of adolescent violence and bullying among adolescents. We should raise this issue and encourage teens to seek help when they need to.

Why do you think the number of teenagers killing themselves is growing? How to prevent this? Why do teenagers consider suicide a solution to all problems?

There are some words and collocations which I hope you will find useful:
