Task 4. Murashova Vera

Do you believe in ghosts? Do you know which holiday is celebrated by the Americans and the British this week? Well, if your answers are like “Yes! Sure!” – you are welcome to my short article!

The Creeps of Gettysburg

I think you’ve already guessed which up-to-date theme I have decided to speculate about this time - it is, obviously, connected with Halloween. By the way, the main idea is about touring to one of the creepiest towns - Gettysburg, where lots of spirits were found by paranormal invertigators.

Brigid Goode, a paranormal investigator, is illuminated by a green laser grid used to detect possible spirits.

According to the Guardian's article https://www.theguardian.com/lifeandstyle/2018/oct/30/halloween-gettysburg-americas-most-haunted-town guided tours through the paranormal are very popular through the Americans. Boatloads of tourists come to visit darkeden streets of Gettysburg and enjoy the frightening atmosphere of the old town, where thousands of locals were lost. Violent deaths, unconsecrated burials, unfinished business - all of this words are about Gettysburg. Moreover, this article is full of stories about ghosts and people who saw them.

Got interested and want to read more about ghosts who live there? Follow the link! Here are some words which would help you to understand the text better:
  • mourning attire-траурная одежда
  • loitering like a wayward apparition-затихающий как притворное видение

 P. S. However, not to make you disappointed as I was when I had read the article up to the end-I must to warn you, that the main author did not found any ghosts during the tour :(

  1. Hello Vera,
Thanks for your post! Indeed it'd be great to go to this place and see it first hand. But you were able to describe it really so well that it gave me an impression I was there, touring it myself. Wouldn't it be great if it were possible to transfer there for even one day?!
Your post is written very well and gives your readers a very good idea about the place and what you can experience there.

Thanks too for sharing the words as expressions from the article. They're all very common and are worth remembering. Hope you'll try to do!

Your post is written really well. Thanks
