Task 10. Valeria Koshechkina
Hi there!
I'm glad to see you again:)
So, during the last lesson we read a text about the harm of tourism, the pollution of natural places and so on. Honestlty, there were some words that I didn't understand and now I would like us to understand their meanings together.
Here is the list of them:
1)To maximise the profits
2)To generate revenue
3)To outstrip supply
Oh, yeah, by the way, I will use this dictionary to check the meaning https://sentence.yourdictionary.com/
1.To maximise the profits means to increase the profit, to make it maximum.
example: The company tried to maximise the profit from sales.
2.To generate revenue
Revenue is the amount of money that a company actually receives during a specific period, including discounts and deductions for returned merchandise.
example: This important dimension of the programme sustains the level of quality required to generate revenue from these products.
3.To outstrip supply
To outstrip means to be or become greater in amount, degree, or success than something or someon
example: The demand for food in the war zone now far outstrips supply.
Now I know how to use them and I hope it was useful for you too:)
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your completed task with us. Did you find doing it useful? It's great you've used https://sentence.yourdictionary.com/ to check how the words you don't know used in different contexts. I hope that you'll keep using it and will be able to master many more new words and expressions. Good luck!
Lera, the examples in your post are taken from https://sentence.yourdictionary.com, and it's great because it's a very helpful resource. However, the idea was to make your own examples too.
