Task 6. Valeria Koshechkina

     Hello everyone!

Today I have a topic related to dictionaries. I suppose it is really important for us because theese are the main recources in our studying and future life.

Now there is a trend towards electronic dictionaries. I agree that it is much more convenient and functional. You can always check this or that word. In addition, electronic dictionaries are constantly updated due to changin of language. As for me, the best electronic dictionary is the Cambridge Online Dicrionary.

It is very convenient to use. there are many examples of the use of the word, you can listen to the pronunciation, see an example of the American and British spelling of the word. and what I like most, you can see the level of complexity of the word.

But of course I have a paper dictionary. I'm really proud of it because few who have such a famous and large dictionary. And again is is the Cambridge Dictionary;) The whole title is ''Cambridge International Dictionary of English''. It is really huge. There are all the words that are in the English language. Moreover, there are a lot of additional imformation that you may not know before.

There are some photos)

All in all, I believe that both electronic and paper dictionaries are really important for linguists so we should use it. But in my opinion paper dictionaries are more useful because while you search for the meaning of the word you memorize it.

  1. Thank you for sharing your post about your favourite dictionaries and explaining the importance of using them. I was glad to learn that you practise using both e- and paper-based dictionaries and quite agree that surfing the dictionary you can memorise some words. Do you know how many new words you learn a week on average?
