Task9: Writing-theory-familiarity-Students' response

Firstly, we have discussed techniques that we use to support arguments.
  •  1) take examples from the history or news.
  •  2) personal experience
  •  3) from different books, films or performances
Moreover, we spoke about essay opening techniques:

  • Question. Rhetorical ?
  • Anecdote. To give brief about the topic that we are want to discuss
  • Quotation. To use some quotes of famous people or books.
  • Small to Large. Start with a very small detail or fact; then, relate it to something larger.
  • Large to Small. Start with a larger fact; then, narrow it down to something smaller and more relatable.
Also, we have discussed essasy closing techniques:

  •   Transitional expressions
  •   Repetition
  •   Co-reference
  •   Cross-reference
  •   Parallelism
We hope that we have mentioned all the aspects that we learnt last year. Thank you for your attention!

  1. Dear All,

Thanks a lot for sharing your answers with me. I've found them rather useful and am hoping they will help me to plan the activities for this course taking your knowledge and skills better.

I'll share the tasks for the next week with later. Also check your blogs for my feedback on your past tasks which I have not commented on.

Have a good second half of the week!

PS However, after having checked the list of techniques that can be used to start your essay, we'll first have to discuss what constitutes plagiarism and how to avoid it. The reason is that you have copied the list of techniques to start your essays from

    https://www.k12reader.com/how-to-write-an-introductory-paragraph/

    How very upsetting!
