Vera Murashova: Are you happy with your body. The full essay version by Vera Murashova
Cosmetic Surgery
Nowadays the problem of cosmetic surgery is extremely popular and up-to-date. On the one hand, there are so many women who try to copy the features of flawless plastic dolls, like Barbie, widening their eyes, making nostrils smaller, putting collagen into their lips, adding implants, and so on. On the other hand, lots of women (and men also) protest and insist on accepting your own features. Thus, let us discuss the all the pros and cons to make up a conclusion about this controversial problem.
Speaking about advantages of cosmetic surgery, the most people say that it gives them more confidence. If you are not satisfied with your lips, why not to change it to be more self-assured? Maybe the nature has done a mistake that makes you suffer? Moreover, such people say that there is nothing special in having a cosmetic surgery, because it is similar to having your hair dyed or teeth straightened. They claim that it is just a way to be well maintained.
Nevertheless there are a lot of people who do not support the mentioned opinion. They insist on accepting ourselves as we are. Firstly, people should be grateful for what the nature has given them, because in most cases the beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Secondly, the true beauty that makes you self-confident comes from your mind. The statistics says that intelligent people are much more attractive than physically perfect ones (https://www.debate.org/debates/Intelligence-is-more-important-than-physical-attractiveness/1/) Finally, from my own point of view, it is so selfish to spend your extra money on cosmetic surgery while there are so many hungry children in Africa, so many sick people, or animals that need help.
To sum up, there are more cons of making cosmetic surgery. Thus, as for me, nobody's perfect, and I do not really understand why there are so many women all around the world who do not accept their bodies and try to get that way with the help of a doctor's knife. To be happy with your body it is not necessary to rely on someone else's opinion. However, it's your life, your body, and it must be what you want it to be and nobody is able to blame you for it.
