Individual Topic. Vera Murashova
Recently, I have read a topic about art, written by
Liza. Thus, I decided to continue this idea and write one more. This is how I consider
abut paintings.
The Lovers
II, 1928 by Rene Magritte
It is obvious that the first thing that catches
attention of a viewer is the kissing figures, placing in the foreground.
Moreover, the woman and the man are kissing through the veils, which cover
their faces and necks like a mask. Their clothes are rather official: the woman
is wearing a red sleeveless dress, and the man is in a black suit, with a white
shirt and a black tie. Speaking about the background, I can say that it is
quite unremarkable, without any details or anything special, just two walls: a
dark-blue on the most part of the background, and a bricked red one in the
right; and a white ceiling in the top. Judging by the veils covering the lovers’
faces, they are seemed to be hiding, in addition, the room where they are
staying is without any windows. Thus, taking into account all mentioned above,
I suppose that here the act of passion creates a tense, mysterious atmosphere,
where the lovers must have been frightened.
Looking at this painting I cannot say that it depicts
just a pure, true love; it is rather provocative, and makes me think of
forbidden love. It reminds me a story of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, when
the lovers were not allowed to meet and communicate. Therefore, let us imagine
such situations when lovers are not allowed to go on dates and consider about
the possible ways of bans’ circumventing.
Firstly, there are a lot of humble people who prefer
just to listen to their parents. Thus, when they get into such situations, they
often give up. However, from my point of view, it is absolutely unacceptable to
surrender when you deal with true love. Therefore, my first tip is to be
confident and be ready to struggle to the bitter end.
Next, there are several ways of breaking the bans.
Thus, skipping the Shakespeare’s idea of suicide and running away, it is
possible to meet in secret, and it is not necessary to have a room and a vails
like in the Magritte painting. It is enough to find a secret place and meet there
at the appointed time, telling the parents that you just going for a walk with
friends.
Finally, if I would ever get into such a situation, I
would not try to lie, because I cannot; otherwise, I will try to persuade them
telling all the advantages of my lover. And I can say for sure that I will not
stop convincing them until they agree, and it does not matter how long it would
take.
To sum up, I want say that it is important to stay
yourself, to follow your own heart and do what tells you. Be self-confident and
achieve your own goals.

Hello Vera,
ReplyDeleteI agree that discussig various aspect of art is really very interesting and rewarding.
Things to consider:
I have read a topic about art, written by Liza.: you can't read a topic but you can read ABOUT it. And then actually you read what Liza has written
*in (PREP) the right
this is how I consider **abut paintings: also, you "consider smth", not "about" it
figures **placing in the foreground > Passive voice
ways of bans’ circumventig: it sounds awkward > change the word order
skipping the (ART) Shakespeare’s idea
if I would ever get into such a situation: Gr "would" is not generally used in the "if-part" of the sentence
To sum up, I want say: try to avoid saying "I want to say", just say it
Vera, I've decided that it'd be easier to discuss your essay's content in class because it is rather difficult to discuss all the aspects of your composition in writing. Shall we agree to do it this way?
