A Reflection Note Aleksandra Ushakova

Reflection Note

The semester has just ended and it's time to express my opinion about it. To begin with, this semester passed really fast and there were really a lot of lessons missed due to some circumstances. So, we didn't do a lot of work. However, even from the tasks we've done I learned something new and interesting. For example, as we wrote some summaries on different articles from the Guardian, I think I finally understood how to do it correctly and how to avoid some mistakes that can appear in it.

As for some topics we discussed, I was really interested in the topics about education in other countries. I think it is rather useful information for us as we are future linguists and we are to communicate with people of different nations and cultures, so this information can help us to understand the background of those people. To write a summary on the presentation from a conference was really interesting too. Not only did I practice my skills on writing summaries, but I, also, learned some new information about how to teach people taking into account their individual differences.

All in all, this course was an interesting experience for me. It was really unusual to work in Blogger, but as I got used to typing instead of writing it turned out a really pleasant thing to do. However, I think that there could be a bit more diversity of topics and forms of works. For instance, it may be interesting to discuss some vital problems that worry everyone right now. It also can be useful to write something like reviews on films or books that can give some food for thought. In general, I liked this course and it was useful.

  1. Hello Sasha,

thanks for your reflection on the course and the activities you were offered. You've reviewed in a rather detailed way what we did and what the value of the activities you had was. I agree with you that the course could benefit from a larger variety of tasks, and will try to do it in the future. The reason why I did not do it with you is that I thought you needed more practice mastering things you were asked to do.

Thanks again for your thoughtful reflection! Good luck with your studies in the future!
