Task_3_National_Stereotypes-LisaTorgalo

  Dear all,
  How are you?Hope you're well.
So, today I'd like to discuss such a taboo topic as national stereotypes. I've disided to write about it beacuse I think that it is very important to talk about it and pay special attention to this problem.
You know, I read wonderful news in a newspaper "Guardian" called "Jeremy Corbyn Vows to Increase Teaching of Black History in Schools". This article is written by a deputy political editor Pippa Crerar. Here you can find a link to it - https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018/oct/11/jeremy-corbyn-labour-vows-to-increase-teaching-of-black-history-in-schools .
In a new policy announcement Labour has offered the highly promising beginnings of an intelligent and substantive response to overcome nationalistic chauvinism. On a visit to Bristol Jeremy Corbyn announced that a Labour government will establish an Emancipation Educational Trust to help schools teach the history and legacy of slavery and colonialism. All this could potentially be reflected in the national curriculum.
I really liked Corbyn's statement that the Black history is British history, and it should not be confined to a single month each year. I fully agree that future generations should be aware of the contribution that Black made in the history of Britain. I believe that such measures will be able to overcome the struggle for the superiority of people, because they will understand that they are a single whole. Britain’s is not an island story, but that of a nation state which headed a formal, global empire for two and a half centuries of its 300-year history. The people of these colonized lands cannot be excluded from the history of Britain because they also took part in the warriors, fought for rights and freedoms and made this country better.
All in all, Britain should know the true history of its country without national stereotypes.
So, I hope that you enjoy this article and look forward to your feedback on it. Also, I'd like to ask you some questions. What do you think of such a problem as racism? Do you think it is a good step in overcoming this problem?
Moreover, here you can find some interesting words from the article and my examples of their use:
potentially(потенциально) harmful products
information from third-party sources(из третьих источников)
the struggle(борьба) against child labour
the organization campaigned(выступать) strongly against tobacco
migrate overseas(за границу)
he is a trailblazer(первопроходец) in this field
the renewed(возобновленные) hostilities
they made an immense contribution to their emancipation(освобождение)
summits and conferences set out(определить) goals
  Best wishes,
  Lisa
