Task 3. The Right to Die
Developing the above-mentioned theme, I’ve decided to speculate on a death row. As for me, it is a very hot and up-to-date topic. Why? Because you probably know that there are several states in the USA where execution is still officially approved as a punishment for deliberate murders.
The prime example which fully reflects my thoughts about this article is a film by Alan Parker called “The Life of David Gale”.
The Life of David Gale
The story is about David Gale who, being a head
of the philosophy department at the University of Austin, decides to take part
in an advocacy group called “DeathWatch”, which is against capital punishment.
One day, when all the Gale’s life goes
wrong, he decides to have sex with Constance Harraway, his close friend from “DeathWatch”. And it’s okay,
except that the next day Harraway’s body is discovered raped and murdered, with
a plastic bag taped over her head… So, long story short, David is sentenced to
death.
Then, Bloom - a very perceptive detective –
starts to investigate this case and finds out that all the testimony are unjustified.
For three days she is searching for evidence of innocence (going forward, they were made by Harraway
and Gale) and finally finds them! However, it’s
too late…Gale is killed.
So, at the and we find out that David
was executed for nothing while Constance committed a suicide, both of them deliberately
sacrificed themselves to discredit capital punishment.

evidence? If you do-just follow the link and enjoy the film: https://www.directv.com/movies/The-Life-of-David-Gale-QlpXTnBBeGdTS3RQRkdzaW9kY1Q4dz09
