A reflective note. Torgalo Elizaveta
My Achievements in Writing during the Semester
Written language has always been considered more complicated than oral, and for me, it was also difficult. However, there is a rule that works for everyone - if you develop your skills, you will achieve what you want. This is exactly what I can say about my writing skills.
Thanks to this course, I could feel like a real blogger and learned how to express my opinion in writing. The most useful thing we did was sorting articles from the Guardian and writing our own posts on them. As for me, it was very interesting and exciting, since we could write about what we like exactly. Moreover, it helped to develop our living language and pick up new words. Nevertheless, I didn’t find it very exciting when we were working in classes with textbook articles. I can say that it was pretty boring. But I also understand that it was quite efficient for us. Next semester, I would like us to deal with life situations that we will have to face as linguists. For example, a letter to a foreign university, a letter for a visa, a resume, a motivation letter, and so on.
All in all, I want to say thank you for the material that we have learned during this semester. Also, for the fact that our classes and homework were very unusual and cool. I hope that the next semester there will be new and even more interesting information.

Hello LIza,
ReplyDeletethanks for your rather positive evaluation of the first semester arrangements and activities. I can also understand why the textbook activities were not that exciting and will try to prepare more interesting activities based on textbook materials.
I like your suggestion of doing smth the next semester that is connected with your specialisation and also practising creating a resume as well as writing some types of letters. Yes, we'll do it:)
Good luck in semester 2!
