Advantages and Disadvantages of Adherence to Vegetarianism
Nowadays,
vegetarianism is very popular all over the world. There are a lot of people
who refused to eat meat. Some persons do it out of pity for animals. Some
people do it in order to keep fit and think it is very useful. But others can’t
agree with this opinion. They keep saying that it is very dangerous for health.
That's why I decided to discuss this controversial
topic.
First of all, meat is a very important and useful component for
human health. It contains a lot of vitamins and substances which there are not
in plant products. A lack of it in the body can seriously harm health. For
example, doctor Yiming Wang writes in his article (Wang, Y.
(2016, January 25).Vegetarianism – Benefits and Harms to Health.

advantages over vegetable proteins, including soy protein. Meanwhile, proteins
are the building blocks for cells and tissues. Without
it, hormones and enzymes cannot be produced.
Secondly, vegetarianism
has a bad effect on the brain. It is known that a strict vegetarian diet reduces
the volume of the brain. In addition, the deficiency of vitamin B12 leads to
neurological and mental disorders, and damage to the Central nervous system. The consequences of it are irritability,
memory impairment, and inability to concentrate. Vitamin B12 is found only in
meat, liver, fish, cheese, milk, and eggs. That’s why these products are necessary
for human health.
In the other
hand, it is a great way to be in shape and to lose weight. From my point of
view, vegetarianism helps people reduce excess weight, due to the fact that the
composition of plant foods includes less fat and calories. Vegetable diet is
characterized by low energy value, and the extra pounds are not collected. Moreover, fresh fruits and vegetables clean the body of
toxins, stimulate the immune system, and normalize metabolic processes in the
human body. Thanks
to vegetarianism, the number of people suffering from obesity has decreased.
In conclusion, I
would like to say that vegetarianism has both pros and cons. I think if a
person decided to be a vegetarian, he should think very carefully about this
issue, he should check his health and consult a doctor. Well-known neurologist,
popularizer of science Paul Brand said, "Man is born to eat meat." I
absolutely agree with his point of view.
