Task 4. Kseniya Zhilina

I've chosen the article dedicated to rap culture(,) (P) because the theme of music has always been close to me and I really like to compare different styles. Nowadays rap has become one of the most popular genere (Sp) not only in the US, bot all over the world. Moreover, as the article says, it may also be the most depressive one. Such ART conclusion have (WF) been made according to the research results, which compared 20-century's music industry and modern rap (Source?). The data show that the common theme of (the) (ART) lyrics today is suicide, depression and anxiety. So maybe we should pay more attention to such problems and help other people not to end up liek (Sp) Peep or Mac Miller.
misogyny - feelings of hating women, or the belief that men are much better than women.
e.g.Misogyny is a central part of sexist prejudice and ideology.
malaise - a general feeling of being ill or having no energy, or an uncomfortable feeling that something is wrong, especially with society, and that you cannot change the situation.
e.g. After a surgery the patient may feel malaise for another week.
to amass - to get a large amount of something, especially money or information, by collecting it over a long period
e.g. He has amassed a huge fortune from his paintings.
anguish - extreme unhappiness caused by physical or mental suffering.
e.g. In her anguish, (P)she forgot to leave a message.
to iterate - to repeat a process, especially as part of a computer program.
e.g.When you create a new program you never need to branch except to sequence, select, or iterate.
Ksenia, whenever you mention that some information comes from some source, you need to add the information about it. It is done in the form of a reference, which includes the name of the author, the title of the publication and its reference details. Let me remind you that you can use the citation machine (http://thecitationmachine.net) to do it if you are not sure about all the details you need to include in your references
Also, I have a question about the examples: are they your own or taken from the dictionary? If the latter, again a reference is necessary.
Grade: 4

Comment from N. Yu.:
ReplyDeleteKsenia, I think you have chosen an interesting article. Are you a rap music fan? If yes, can you share with your peers and me some information about what attracts you to this music and how it makes you feel? It would be great too if you shared a clip or a couple of clips o your favourite rap compositions and explained what you like about them
Also, about the words you have chosen: can you add the explanation in English in addition to the Ru equivalent and also your own sentence examples with these words?
